Zawsty Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-28b · Early access
The short version. Zawsty is an early-access AI chat app run by one person, Braye Stephens, on his own computers. We collect and store what you type, what Zawsty answers, the facts you tell it, your projects, and basic technical information like your IP address. Braye can see, search and read every account and every conversation (by username, display name or any words in a chat) from his private admin screen, to keep the app safe, fix problems and teach Zawsty. Don't put anything in Zawsty you wouldn't want him to see. Zawsty can be wrong. You can download or delete your data at any time from Settings.
1. Who runs Zawsty
Zawsty ("the app", "the service") is a personal project built and run by Sebastian Braye Stephens ("Braye", "we", "us") in Indiana, USA. It isn't a company product, and it's offered free of charge in early access. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy below (together, "the Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use Zawsty.
2. Early access and accounts
- You need an early access code from Braye to create an account. Codes are personal: don't sell or post them.
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they agree to these Terms for you. Zawsty isn't meant for children under 13, and we delete any account we learn belongs to one.
- Give a username that isn't offensive or pretending to be someone else. Keep your password private; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell Braye right away (Settings → Send feedback) if you think someone else got in.
- Early access means things will break, change or disappear. We can change, pause or end the app, any feature, or your access, at any time, with or without notice.
3. What Zawsty can and can't do
- In this app Zawsty chats and looks things up on the web. It can't control phones, computers, apps or smart devices, send messages, make calls, buy things, or act anywhere for you.
- Zawsty's answers come from AI models running on Braye's own devices and from public websites. AI makes mistakes: answers can be wrong, out of date, incomplete or made up, even when they sound sure.
- Zawsty is not a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser, therapist or emergency service. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial, safety or other important decisions; check with a qualified person. In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number). If you're thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US.
- Zawsty may be slow or unavailable, for example when Braye's devices are busy, off, or being worked on.
4. Rules for using Zawsty
Don't use Zawsty to:
- break any law, or help anyone else break one;
- harass, threaten, bully or hurt anyone, or create sexual content involving minors (we report that to the authorities);
- try to get into Braye's devices, systems or other people's accounts, get around limits or security, probe for weaknesses, overload the service, or use bots or scripts against it;
- get Zawsty to produce malware, weapons instructions or other seriously harmful content;
- share other people's private information without their permission;
- copy, resell or build a competing service from the app or its answers in bulk.
We can remove content, limit, suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, and we may share information with law enforcement when the law requires it or when someone's safety is at risk.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you type ("your content"). You give Braye a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, process, display and use your content to run, secure, debug and improve Zawsty, as described in the Privacy Policy. You're responsible for your content and promise you have the right to share it. Answers Zawsty gives you are yours to use, but you're responsible for how you use them.
6. Feedback and reports
When you use "Send feedback / debug", we receive your note plus the recent messages of the conversation it's about. We may use any feedback to improve Zawsty with no obligation to you.
7. No warranty
ZAWSTY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THE APP WILL BE CORRECT, SECURE, UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WON'T BE LOST.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, BRAYE WON'T BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) ZAWSTY OR RELIANCE ON ITS ANSWERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO $50 (FIFTY US DOLLARS). Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
9. Indemnity
You agree to cover Braye's reasonable costs and losses (including legal fees) from claims by others that come from your content or your breaking these Terms.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Zawsty and delete your account at any time in Settings. We can suspend or end your access at any time, for example if you break these Terms or when early access ends. Sections 5 and 7–12 keep applying after that.
11. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Elkhart County, Indiana, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction, except where your local law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live. Before filing anything, you agree to first tell us about the problem through the app and give us 30 days to try to fix it.
12. Changes and the rest
We may update these Terms. When we do, the version date at the top changes and the app asks you to accept the new version before you keep going. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part isn't a waiver. You can't transfer your account; we can transfer the service. These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Zawsty.
Privacy Policy
A. What we collect
- Account: your username, display name, the access code you used, when you accepted these Terms, and your password, which is stored only as a salted scrypt hash, never in plain text.
- Everything you put in the app: your messages, Zawsty's replies, your chat titles, the facts Zawsty saves about you ("memory"), your projects, their instructions and notes, and feedback/debug reports.
- Memory: when you tell Zawsty things about yourself (your name, where you live, what you like, or "remember that..."), it saves them to your account automatically so it can get to know you. Memory is kept in three separate places: about you (every chat sees it), a project (only that project's chats see it) and a chat (only that chat sees it, for example "from now on answer in Spanish"). You can see and delete them in Memory, or say "forget ...".
- Your files: besides the app's database, each account, project and chat is also kept as its own file on Braye's computer, so he can review conversations and teach Zawsty from them.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser or device type, the times you use the app, and basic request logs (which page or API was used, not your passwords). Sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes.
- We don't ask for or collect your contacts, location, microphone, camera, photos or payment details. Please don't put sensitive information (health details, government ID numbers, passwords, financial account numbers) in chats.
B. How it's processed
- Zawsty runs on Braye's own computer and his own phones and tablets at his home in Indiana, USA. Your data is stored on his computer.
- The app is reached through Cloudflare, Inc., which carries the connection between you and Braye's computer.
- When Zawsty looks something up, the text of your question is sent as a web search to sites such as Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia and StatMuse, using Braye's devices. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Don't ask search questions that contain private information.
- Zawsty's AI models run on Braye's own devices. In this app your conversations aren't sent to outside AI companies.
C. How we use it
- To run the app: answer you, remember what you told it, keep your chats and projects.
- To keep it safe and working: stop abuse, enforce these Terms, investigate problems, and fix bugs.
- Admin access and review: Braye has an admin screen where he can search all accounts and conversations and read any chat in full, with how each answer was made. He uses it to keep the app safe, look into reports and fix problems.
- To improve Zawsty: Braye can read conversations and reports, and he may choose specific conversations to teach and improve Zawsty's models and answers. Your conversations never change Zawsty on their own; only Braye can decide to teach it from one.
- We don't sell your data, don't show you ads, and don't share your data for advertising.
D. Who sees it
Braye, who can search and read all accounts and conversations. Service providers only as needed to carry the connection (Cloudflare) or run searches (the search sites above, which see the search text only). Authorities when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith it's needed to protect someone's safety or our rights. A future owner of the service, if it's ever transferred, under these same promises. Other users never see your chats, memory or projects.
E. How long we keep it
Your account data is kept until you delete it or your account. Request logs are kept up to 90 days. Feedback reports may be kept up to 2 years to track fixes. Copies Braye made to teach Zawsty may be kept after you delete your account, with your username removed when you ask. Backups roll off within 90 days.
F. Your choices and rights
- See and download everything stored about you: Settings → Download my data.
- Delete single memories, chats and projects at any time, or your whole account (Settings → Delete account), which removes your chats, memory, projects and sign-ins right away.
- Ask us anything about your data, or to correct it, through Settings → Send feedback. Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Virginia or the EU/UK), you may have more rights, such as to access, correct, delete or move your data and to object to some uses; we'll honor them as the law requires. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted ads.
G. Security
We use hashed passwords, hashed sign-in tokens, encrypted connections through Cloudflare, limits on sign-in tries, and keep the app separate from the systems that control Braye's own devices. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee your data will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
H. Children
Zawsty isn't for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll delete it.
I. Changes
If we change this policy, the version date changes and the app asks you to accept the new version.
Questions or requests: use Settings → Send feedback in the app.
